Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except for aggregators and providers of the Text Message services.
How We Use SMS
Nelson & Associates, Inc. may send SMS text messages to individuals who have explicitly opted in by checking a separate, unchecked-by-default SMS consent checkbox on our website. Opting in is entirely optional — you can request an insurance quote and receive full service without providing SMS consent.
We maintain two separate SMS consent tracks:
- Non-marketing messages (quote confirmations, appointment reminders, renewal notices, coverage updates, account service notifications) — requires separate checkbox consent
- Marketing messages (insurance offers, discount eligibility, new product availability) — requires a separate, additional marketing consent checkbox
Both checkboxes are unchecked by default and optional.

Data Sharing — American Family Insurance
American Family Insurance is our insurance carrier partner. They are not a third-party data buyer and do not independently receive your SMS opt-in consent data or your phone number from Nelson & Associates for their own marketing purposes. Your SMS opt-in is used solely by Nelson & Associates, Inc. to deliver the messages described above.
Note: When you request an insurance quote, Nelson & Associates shares information with American Family Insurance as required by insurance regulatory law for underwriting and policy servicing. This is not data selling. American Family Insurance does not receive your SMS opt-in consent data as part of this process.
Consent Records
We maintain records of all SMS opt-in events including: timestamp, form version, IP address, and phone number provided. These records are available upon request and are retained in accordance with applicable law.

Meta Messenger Data Collection
When you contact us via Facebook Messenger, we collect your name, phone number, email, and insurance inquiry details. This information is:
- Stored in our secure Google Sheets CRM
- Used to provide you with insurance quotes via SMS and email
- Shared with Meta (hashed) for advertising optimization
- Never sold to third parties
Consent: By messaging us on Facebook Messenger, you consent to receive SMS and email follow-ups about your insurance quote. You can opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP. To delete your Messenger data, email team@nelsonandassociatesinc.com.
Advertising Partners and Data Sharing
We work with advertising partners including Meta Platforms, Inc. (Facebook/Instagram) and Google LLC to deliver relevant insurance information to potential customers.
Information Shared with Meta
When you submit a quote request, we may share the following with Meta for advertising:
- Email address (SHA-256 hashed/encrypted)
- Phone number (SHA-256 hashed/encrypted)
- First and last name
- ZIP code
- Insurance product interest
- Form submission timestamp
Privacy Protection: Email and phone are hashed (encrypted) before transmission. Meta receives encrypted versions, not readable contact information.
